"If I had a million dollars..."
The posts are proving me to be a liar - no new posts after my last one -- no pictures. There has been a lot of activity, though. Most of it has been of the "buying stuff for the house & waiting for the carpet cleaners to come" variety (that is a not a real sentence, by the way).
We did take possession of our house. We love it. We were even invited to the street "happy hour," which is an impromptu gathering "Alberta white-trash" style (this is a direct quote from a new neighbor). Everyone just stands in someone's drive-way talking, drinking beer or wine and watching the kids ride their bikes in the street. Anyone who knows RKZ and I knows that we have not just found a house - we've obviously found a home :) We will no longer have to host the white trash party - we'll be living it!! Yeah! We missed this first happy hour, though, because we were coming back to the rental condo to catch the Iowa/Ohio State game (college football - FYI). It was an ok game. Not too surprised, but sad that Iowa lost. I spent most of the time looking at decorating magazines.
So, the carpet is cleaned (don't even get me started on the bait & switch tactics of carpet cleaning companies) & we have 6 new Pottery Barn chairs in the kitchen. Other than that, the house is empty. We're moving our personal things in today & vacating the rental condo. Although the actual condo has been really nice overall, we're not sad to leave the downtown location behind. Sadly, we won't have a home phone, cable or the internet until tomorrow (cels still work). I guess we'll just have to talk to each other tonight!! We also aren't getting our washer & dryer until next Friday, so we might be a smelly bunch for a week.
The best news is that our furniture, et al arrives on Tuesday morning. Get ready for some actual photos of moving madness. I have been going to sleep every night imagining where things will go. Thankfully, our CSG (Canadian Safari Guide - such a close friend of the family that he's basically a 3rd grandpa for Buck) is going to be on baby-duty during the move in. Thank God for retirement, is all I have to say.
Until then, I'll try to snap some photos of the neighbors. It's started to rain today, so I'm not sure that there will be another happy hour for at least a few days. But you know me - anything for the blog!
