"Who says you can't go home?"

Well, true to form in a consumerist society, the things we pay the most for are the quickest to arrive. The cable man was here (@ our new home) bright & early at 9am. I had just put Buck down for his first nap in his new bedroom! He fell right to sleep & then the doorbell rang.

Anyway, "Mr. Shaw cable" snapped right to it & hooked us up with a phone (number will be emailed out ASAP), the internet (yeah!) & cable TV. According to himself (who was a funny but crotchity [sp?] man who also refused to have his picture taken for the blog), he was able to finish in about 30 minutes, but this was extended to 1 1/2 hours because he had to wait on hold while on the phone with the techs who turn the systems on! Yes, that's right, even our installer was put on hold by our cable company. He actually had more luck when he called in on the customer line -- I'm not sure if that's bodes well or badly for us.

On another "home front," we are experiencing difficulties with our new heating system/furnace. RKZ is on it right now, but we spent last night in 13c/55f degree hell (I believe that hell is very cold). RKZ and I shared an air mattress & although I am not normally a "cuddler," we were attempting to touch nearly every body part throughout the night. The "air mattress crater" actually helped the situation. Buck, on the other hand, in those incredible flame-retardent "feety" pajamas and with his industrial-furnace internal body heater, hasn't slept better since we left Toronto. RKZ actually had to use his alarm clock to wake up this morning! We're hoping that tonight proves to be warmer inside of our home. Currently, I am double-wrapped in sweats and thick socks under slippers. It is about 5c/41f outside and rainy. It snowed this morning a bit. I promise we'll fix any home issues before you come :)

On the BAD MOMMY front - we spend an insane amount of money to have our carpets cleaned before our furniture arrived & it is beautiful - but Buck filled an usually runny diaper this morning. Mommy didn't turn on the lights to check before she changed him & ended up with a glob of poop on the freshly cleaned carpet. Thank goodness the carpet really is "baby-poop" brown. I don't know if that makes me a bad mommy, but it certainly makes me a nominal homeowner. Oh, and I did allow Buck to fall on his face while I was downloading a ring tone onto my cel phone (Take me home, country road). That definitely qualifies.
