"The cow jumped over the moon"

Well, in the theme of the week so far has been that I either forget, misplace, or lose everything. This includes the number to the friends we were supposed to meet at Stampede, my cel phone with the numbers for even more friends and then...when we went to claim our Harry Potter IMAX tickets, it turns out that they didn't have my credit card on file. I thought I was going to lose it at that moment. Thankfully, we were able to buy tickets to a later show and just in time as the line was running down the hallway even 1 1/2 early! SDJ and I lined up near some interesting people including a mother and son from New Brunswick (province on the other side of the country) and 2 girls who we couldn't determine whether they were dressed for the movie or if they just fancy themselves little goth witches. They were very friendly, though - even the one who explained that she is the living embodiment of Draco Malfoy, which I thought was a sad commentary on heroes these days. The pair did give us some entertainment by teaching us how to do the "Time Warp" from Rocky Horror Picture show. I didn't have the heart to tell them that I had learned it as an 8 year old at summer camp the year the movie came out.

Regardless, the movie was good. I'm sure that my good friend E has seen it and she might share my sadness at some of the changes from the book. There were a lot of things left out which is understanable as this is the longest of the novels & they still have to fit the story into 2 hours (roughly). I can't stress enough that interested people should read the books - they are better in the way that falling in love with your spouse is better than getting your first kiss from a pimply partner in the back of a smelly school gym (not my personal experience, but I can imagine). The books are richer and more interesting - even as the movies can be good and exciting.

If you can believe it, we're off to the Stampede again today this afternoon. SDJ deserves the chance to ride some of the fun, tall people rides. RKZ is coming along to join her as I am the world's biggest chicken and Buck didn't grow 6 inches over the last 2 days & needs supervision. I will take pictures of our lax parenting skills to share with the world.

I am very happy that Stampede is nearly over for us. It will be good to have the weekend to get into some type of routine again. Also, I think SDJ might enjoy our regular life more than these wacky days at Stampede.

Saw the movie yesterday (ditched summer school hehehe). I loved it. It wasn't the same not seeing it at midnight with my buds. I too was sad about some of the cuts and made the same (minus the pimply boy) arguments about reading the books to my classes this morning. Bummer for the people who don't read. I love Harry. Is it wrong that I'm starting to LOVE Harry? Keep on blogging. Wayne and I can't get enough of it.
