"Do the Hippy Shake"

Well...it's been a few days because we have hit a snag in our vacation. I spent Monday at Glen Ivy Spa (amazing) with some girlfriends. We've done if for years and they specifically scheduled it so that I could be included -- so nice!

But, Monday night, Grandma J was going to sit down in a chair at the beach house and missed! After the EMT's and fire department were through, she was deposited at Hoag hospital down in Newport! Her hip was broken at the top of her femur -- the little ball that sits in her hip. Poor Grandma was scared, but the doctor was great and explained everything.

Most people buy t-shirts on their vacations, Grandma is bringing home a new hip. She had surgery on Tuesday & was out and fully recovered withing 3 hours. A miracle of modern science! She has a new hip and a motivated attitude to get out of the hospital. Grandma will be in a few more days (still no definite word) and then she'll probably move to a rehab center here in California for a month until she's fully recovered. Although it's never good that this happens, it's at least better that she fell somewhere where my mom has a lot of support and a free place to stay. Our extended family has been really wonderful with visiting and lending their homes for the next month.

I have been with Grandma everyday so far, hence, no writing. Since she is recovering well, I'm back to my old blogging routine for the rest of the trip and then for our move (in 2 weeks! AHHH!). We are making a side trip to the hell that is a crowded Disneyland today. YRT gave us some free passes -- so we can't waste them!

Bridgette, I just felt like I had a virtual family reunion. I especially loved the photo of Aunt Jodie. She is a beautiful, kind, loving and compassionate woman. She is much loved! Keep up the blogging and I will keep up the blog-reading. You sure have a cute Bucky there. Love you!
